As the battle between Drake & Kendrick Lamar continues, something that was on my bingo card (and State of the Culture report) started taking center stage: Deep Fakes. But not just any deep fakes, REALLY convincing deep fakes.
Drake already used the analog AI of rap, ghost writers. So I’m not as surprised to see him adopt these tools to troll. Where Drakes genius lies is in manipulating perception. He’s going to win the battle as his style of ever changing, let’s say Madonna-esque wave jacking, has already influenced newer generations of hip-hop creators. Ultimately K. Dot will win the war because he’s just a better rapper, so Drake needs to muddy the waters and try to drown him as quickly as possible
I have to imagine Pusha is somewhere patiently waiting, he dragged Drake once. I’m curious to see what kind of AI trolling comes from there. Maybe an AI video of Drake getting pissed on by one of P Diddlers cronies?
As for the use of AI to create unlicensed content in the likeness of unpaid artists? That’s just theft. We trained the machines to lie to us in just the ways we wanted, so we wouldn’t have to look into the uncanny valley, but this shit is wack
