What up y’all!
I hope everyone’s getting some rest and much-needed family time from the Thanksgiving break.
As many of you know, the SNOBHOP newsletter drops every Friday, and we usually do a special post every Black Friday that’s a slight change from the norm.
While Black Friday is about consumerism and getting the best sales of the year (no judgment — I’m shopping, too), this is also the season for giving. And in Hip-hop, you’ll find that rappers love to give back, not just with turkeys and back-to-school drives, but with special treats for the fans.
In prior years, we talked about 21 Savage, J. Cole, and more. This year, we’re going to cover two dope moments where Hip-hop artists gave back. One is super recent, and the other is a personal favorite.
This is a quick read today. Tap in for a sec, and get back to ya vacation.
Y’all know the vibes… Let’s get into it.
I. Tyler, The Creator’s Chromakopia
Tyler, The Creator, recently released his 8th studio album, Chromakopia. While the tour is slated for 2025, he decided to give back to fans by throwing a listening party for the album ahead of the tour.
The Catch?
Tickets were only $5 a piece, and the venue announcements were randomly dropped on Twitter.
But if that wasn’t enough, Tyler took it a step further by making in-person deliveries to random fans who ordered Chromakopia on vinyl. Check out the clip below to see Tyler visiting a fan in California to make the delivery.
Lastly, at Tyler The Creator’s Chromakopia listening party in Boston he partnered with Converse to sell a limited amount of Chromakopia-themed Chuck 70s. To my understanding, they weren’t free but it’s still a way to reward die-hard fans who chucked everything to the side in order to make it to the show.
II. Young Dolph Lambo giveaway
Young Dolph was no stranger to giving back to his hometown, especially his fans.
Dolph’s giving was unique because it seemed from the heart, AND HE ACTUALLY FOLLOWED THROUGH. There were no gimmicks or anything that would suggest he was doing it for clout. Besides a piece of content documenting the giveback, you wouldn’t know about it.
Perhaps the craziest giveback is what he did in promoting his album “Rich Slave.”
All fans had to do was pre-order the album or a merch bundle, and they were entered into a contest. The winner received a…
LAMBORGHINI.
That’s right. A $500,000 Lamborghini S Aventador courtesy of Paper Frank himself.
Check out the video below to see Dolph dropping off the car to a lucky fan in Texas. Then, look at the comments — fans appreciated how much Dolph showed love, and it was memorable each time he did it.
EPILOGUE
Above all, if you’ve got a lil extra to give this season, whether it’s money, time to talk to a junior hoping to break into your industry, or even some well wishes don’t hesitate to do so.
And if you’re still in work mode remember that giving, especially when done with intention, can be a cornerstone of your brand building efforts.
In many cases, it’s a win-win for the brand and those who are helped by it.

With that said….
Enjoy the holidays.
